Summary of Ngātiwai Trust Board meeting on 19 October

  • AGM: Preparations are underway for the Board’s Annual General Meeting.
  • Board Policies: – A code of conduct policy among other internal policies including Trustee Elections is being developed.
  • Consolidated Financials: – NTB group consolidated financials for month ended 31st August 2016 are running reasonably aligned to budget.
  • Education: – The Education Unit continues to run successful educational programmes regarding Rangatahi Maori Suicide Prevention, Incredible Years, Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities and the 3 day Driver’s License course.
  • Honey: – The due-diligence has been completed and the contract with Watsons has been signed off during the month. NTB has now installed 300 hives on the 13 Department of Conservation concession sites.
  • Sponsorship: – A sponsorship grant was approved to support the Whangaruru School Annual Cultural Festival to be held on 10th November 2016.
  • Treaty Claims: – An overview regarding the effects of other overlapping hapū claims was presented to Trustees.
  • Trustee Elections: – Preparations are underway for the Board’s tri-annual Trustee Elections.

 

  • Marae Reports:
    • Kawa: Things are still quiet at the marae.
    • Matapouri: – The marae committee has not held a meeting since the Board’s Hui-A-Iwi however we intend to apply for funding from Foundation North to install an access ramps to the marae and new mattress storage.
    • Ngunguru: – The marae AGM was held September 2016. The committee is looking to complete maintenance on the marae access and driveway.
    • Oakura: – The bush-hut lease is ready for signing, the marae is organising a handover ceremony and karakia.
    • Otetao: – The marae will be holding its AGM in December 2016.
    • Whananaki: – The marae committee is still working on its redevelopment plans which includes the ablutions and kitchen/dining.
