3/7/2016

DOC are seeking expressions of interest in the upcoming Weed Team (up to 5) paid positions on Te Hauturu-ō-Toi / Little Barrier Island.

Being a member of the weed team is a challenging but rewarding role. It requires physical fitness and ability to work in the natural environment. Above all it requires good team membership skills including; ability to communicate, ability to remain positive in challenging environments,  follow instructions and living and working within a small team.

Click Read more if this is for you!

The successful applicants will be required to live and work from Te Hauturu-ō-Toi and be away from their  friends and whānau for the entire time. Applicants are encouraged to give this concept some consideration, because once you are on the island, it is more challenging than you may think.

In return you will spend 12 weeks on Te Hauturu-ō-Toi in the natural environment. For the right people with the right attitude you will receive training, coaching and mentoring.
The attached Hauturu Weed Team Information and the Role Description provides an overview of the project and the Expression of Interest form needs to be completed by anyone interested in the work.

The attached Hauturu Weed Team Expression of Interest form can be completed online and emailed back to Pete Mitchell or it can be dropped off to the DOC Office in Warkworth.  If the applicant is unable to print the form please don’t hesitate to visit the DOC Office before the closing date and fill out the questionnaire there.  The Warkworth Office contact is Hollie Russell (hrussell@doc.govt.nz or 09 425 0978).

Please email all information to Pete Mitchell or drop it off to DOC, 30 Hudson Road, Warkworth, no later than 4.30pm Monday, 11th July 2016.
Please include:
  • A covering letter outlining why you would like this position
  • The expression of interest questionnaire – this will be used to assess the applicants suitability for the job

  • If the applicant is short listed for one of the positions we will send a Health Questionnaire and a Per 1 form to complete.
